Function / Content

This series consists of road plans (RP) referred by the Department of Lands as the "RP" series. The plans record the survey detail for the area designated, including portion or lot number, road or street name. The plans are certified by a licensed surveyor and include references to the Northern Territory Government Gazette (NTG) mostly General (G) series and Commonwealth of Australia Gazette (CG) with approval date gazetted. A legend and azimuth reference are included. The plans are in a scale of chains/feet to inches then changes to metres to centimetres in mid-1972. These plans are a small, medium and large format plan, on tracing paper or occasionally canvas/linen. The RP plans began in 1950 to 1983 and refer to Road opening and closing surveys.
